Written in Fire, the third and final book in the trilogy, takes up the story two weeks after the end of A Better World and immediately reminds us that for all that was resolved in the first two books, there was still a lot of unfinished business to be dealt with. Nick fights to stay alive, to keep the key players alive, and to face down the complexities of choosing to save the world with Shannon, or choosing to save his family with Natalie. Time is short. Armies are marching. Will the Holdfast remain a refuge for the living or become a cradle of mass death?
This book returns to the frenetic action driven pace of Brilliance, and Sakey keeps it up all the way to the satisfyingly final end. I enjoyed reading this entertaining suspense thriller series.
